BIG LEAGUE CHEW

I’ve been really looking forward to the day that I’d stumble upon some Big League Chew. During my bubble gum quest, everyyyybody was weighing in and saying that Big League Chew was going to cure me of my bubble gum sadness.

WELL I GOT NEWS FOR YOU, PALS… HUH-UH.

I like the idea of Big League Chew more than I like actual Big League Chew, y’know? The powder comes off of those little shredded gum pieces and goes all over your hands, pants, floor, whatever and then you have to grab a hard-to-determine amount of it to get a good wad. Yesterday I got too much because I was chewin’ and chewin’ and just had to spit it out… it was a lot of effort. It’s a little too soft when you first start, and there is a small window of time when it’s PERFECT, but then it gets pretty strenuous (to, you know, chew).

And I still haven’t figured out how much I need to grab…

What’s NICE about Big League Chew is that, as opposed to bubble gum cigarettes and cigars, it was created as an alternative to the baseball chewing tobacco tradition. You could argue that it’s representing a little too much liiiike chew, but it’s mostly just packaging here, right? There’s not, like, say, smoke coming out the end. The quick bio of the gum on Wikipedia, though, is a fun, informative read (the story is also, adorably, on the back of each package of Big League Chew).

Flavor Strength: 8
Comments: It’s not as “classic bubble gum” as I want it to be flavor-wise, but it’s pretty great and soft and chewy anyway.

Flavor Endurance: 6
Comments: Ehhhhh, bad news. It pretty quickly ends up being like chewing on rubber… and that’s just no good.

Final thought: Sorry for the blog slackin’, fans. We’ve reached the last couple weeks of summer programming and I’m totally exhausted and haven’t been watching ANYTHING. More gum blogs on the way…
