EXTRA DESSERT DELIGHTS APPLE PIE

Earlier in the week, I mentioned those friendsssss we gum-chewers have who are not quiiiiite as adventurous when it comes to outside-the-box bubble-gum-y confections. They like their WINTERGREENS and their SPEARMINTS just fine, but balk at the mention of a fruity flavor! DUMB. Hehe. At any rate, you might steer them clear of Extra’s new Dessert Delights Apple Pie, methinks, because it is oneeee MAGICAL gum flavor explosion (and I, ahem, encountered one such balker upon purchase…).

This gum tastes exaaaaaaactly like apple pie (as we’ve grown accustomed with Dessert Delights). I don’t know how the wizards at Extra are making it happen, but these gum flavors are SO outrageously amazing. The first taste of this is sooooo deliciously apple-y, and then the full PIE flavor hits you (sans, maybe, crust… but who likes crust anyway?). It’s pretty much spot-on flavor. What I REALLY LOVE about this gum is that it proves my theory that cinnamon flavor is not inherently HOT and can be present in gum without being freakin’ BIG RED. I dig it.

Once the flavor evens out a little, it maintains the apple/sugar/cinnamon combo in a wee subtler way and if you’re a fan of such an idea, you’ll probably like it. If not, it might gross you out. After all, who wants to chew on something like apple pie forever, right? It’s like that dessert that’s so rich that you can’t finish it and it just slooooowly gets grosser and grosser as it sits on your plate loooonger and loooonger.

This flavor, then, tends to be more like Dessert Delights’ Strawberry Shortcake and Key Lime Pie than their Mint Chocolate Chip or Orange Creme Pop. It’s good, but maybe not for as long as it lasts…

Comments: This GUM FAN hoarded several packages of Mint Chocolate Chip Dessert Delights because I thought the line would be a novelty that didn’t last (giggle if you must! I LOVE IT!). Perhaps if they are expanding, though, it means it’s doing well? Do you have a favorite of the five flavors?
